Earlier this month, Brooke joined the MSCPA's Nonprofit Accounting & Auditing Committee. This committee meets monthly to monitor changes in accounting, auditing, tax and regulatory developments as they relate to the not-for-profit world, excluding hospitals and nursing homes.
The committee provides educational opportunities to members in public accounting and the not-for-profit community and hosts an annual conference and update program. These meetings have been held over zoom.
Brooke decided to join the committee because she wanted to be a part of something that would give her more insight. Moreover, she was eager to be more involved in the accounting world outside of work and the nonprofit sector interested her the most.
Josh has been a member of the committee for six years and has benefitted from the group. Specifically, he enjoys the coverage and discussion of new accounting pronouncements that affect non-profits as well as the opportunity for practitioners to bring up questions regarding their clients to the committee, which invokes thoughtful discussion.
